E-mail is so Yesterday

Businesses need to embrace web 2.0 quickly.

The article here speaks about what is changing rapidly. The internet killer app - the email is slowly getting killed now - the new killer apps are social networking, collaboratively written text, IM and what not.

It is really the age of Social Computing - Email really is so yesterday!

US Patent System Weakening - Really?

The article here is very interesting.

It talks about a Patent Reforms bill to be passed by US senate and tries to explain why "it will stifle growth and prosperity for the average U.S. citizen. It will slow down investment, reduce jobs and threaten economic recovery at a time we need it most. This misguided special-interest legislation still pending in the portals of the Senate must be stopped. "

Further the article says, "However, a few very influential large companies led by Microsoft, Intel, Cisco, IBM and the other "usual suspects" have spun a web of deception and successfully pushed legislation through Congress that dramatically weakens the patent system. A corresponding bill is now approaching a vote in the Senate. The influential group of big companies calls itself the "coalition for patent fairness," but is more accurately described as the "infringers' lobby." They no longer need to rely on patents for a competitive advantage - instead, they rely on their dominant market power and don't want innovators getting in their way."

No where in the article however, the proposed bill is described and what specific points really will do what the author thinks they will achieve.

Another very interesting point made by the author ," On the other hand, patent experts in China and India have welcomed the bill, as it would enable low-risk and low-cost access to U.S. technologies. "

Well, when India and China protect their markets the same authors talk about protectism and closed economies etc. Now as the world is globalizing, who is creating one-sided protectionisms laws!

Do we really need to take these articles seriously? In a world where open ness rules, innovation thrives. I am not convinced that US only has Innovation Monopoly?

Business People get the last chance

In a recent Conference I mentioned about what really happens in typical conferences

1. Politicians Talk
2. Beaurocrats Talk
3. Professors Talk
4. Then comes the chance for business men to talk
Before the business men could talk, Politicians walk out, Government Officials are away and Professors are looking at new theories and new papers that they will be speaking on..

It so happen that all the other three - Politicians, Govenment and Profs advise the business men to do something -

The business man gets some time to put his point afterwards but never listened to...

Is this typical everywhere?
I have seen this in umpteen conferences ---

In my opinion business guys are actually doing it... ? whatever advise the other three members of society talk about...

Predicting Black Swans

Black Swan and Fooled by Randomness, the two books by Nassim Nicholas Taleb, keeps on coming back to me. He talks about the futility and fallacy of many of our best practices in predicting future. He is particularly severe on Gaussian Distribution - the Normal distribution, which has been brought into business lexicon by Statistical Process Control (SPC) of the machination of work that brought industrialization to peek - which Motorola took to further extreme of Six Sigma and GE actually sold it to the whole corporate world.

Human beings have been fascinated with future in many ways and since earliest times. The field of astronomy and astrology have a genesis in urge in knowing what is going to happen. Prediction, forecasting and projections are what we want to delve into regularly - in fact the framework of science (a way to explain reality which can be proven) and mathematics - a framework to construct and develop results from key Axioms - are really the outcome of a tendency to forecast or predict.

The stochastic nature of our world however is telling us how limited all these so called futurologists are really. One such author, Alvin Toffler, dazzled us with Future Shock, Power Shift and Third Wave. In 1990s he wrote War and Anti-war and recently he wrote Revolutionary wealth. Well, having read all these - he produces a book in one decade, I realized how less effective the newer books have been compared to previous ones.

Ray Kurzweils is using technological trends to predict Singularity is Near - when Biology is overtaken by machine intelligence (did we hear this before - someone used to talk about Artificial Intelligence ) - well Roger Penrose's in Emperor New Mind and Shadows of Mind thrashed the strong AI proponents.

Now comes the Black Swan and Fooled by randomness.

Where does it take our thinking which is coming from TRIZ on Trends of system evolution and predicting the future. Is TRIZ and thus all of us are FOOLED BY RANDOMNESS? - I intuitively feel it is not about prediction, it is about understanding evolution.

If you do not want to be fooled by randomness, embrace it. How - a combination of Lean Thinking with TRIZ looks like the best recipe - Really? Well to my thinking. Godel proved limitaions of mathematics - The Godel Theorem came as a great shock as was the Quantum Theory with its associated Uncertainty Principle. What is needed- when physics and Maths are failing - look ate Biology and chemistry - The way we have survived and become humans from Atoms need to be understood -

So if you want to predict, use trends and forecasting with futurologists - look to reconcile with Evolution!!!!

Not Decided
HOW are we innovating?
What is the right age to start innovating?
Innovation - Is it an inborn quality or can it be learnt?
How large companies kill innovation and how to revive it?
Is Innovation a new fad - new bottle, old wine?
Is there an emerging model of globalization, complexity and innovation?
Challenges of Intrapreneurship?
Design Driven Development: Art of Innovation
Does process aid or inhibit the creative mind?: A knowledge cafe experience
Does the impact of an idea depend on the now? - relevance or irrelevance of an idea with reference to a time parameter
Top down or Bottom up? Which works for Innovation within an organization?
Innovation - Execution, Challages for a tartup
Globalization and Innovation
Building an Innovation/Creativity/Design Community

Google Trends - Web 2.0 Vs ERP

I am really hooked on to Google Trends today ....! Anyway

Web 2.0 is the next big thing for Enterprises! (Or is it the current Big think) - Just lets see how it compares with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) on Google Trends...

Is Web 2.0 going to eat into ERP! or ERP vendors need a web 2.0 strategy - I think they need it immediately!

Google Trends - India China

Since we are at Google Trends and flavor of the times is India and China - Just look at how India and China on Google Trends fare...

Seach Volume - India consistently outperforms China,

News Reference - There seems to be more News about China

May be China is not so open - and India is so open that what is India becomes very complex - hence individuals want to search more ....

Can anyone interpret these trends?

Globalizing Innovation CompleXity

Was just tracking three trends (using Google trends)

1. Globalization

2. Innovation

3. Complexity

4. Lets see the three trends together (GIX - Globalizing Innovation Complexity)

What can we see - Innovation is way heavy in Google...

I think with Innovation is needed to - Increase Globalization and Take care of complexity - hence people are trying to get answers from GOOGLE on how to Innovate!

The cut-off US$ Indian Rupee Value when IT Offshoring becomes non-lucrative

Indian Rupee has been rising against US Dollar. For last 5 years it has changed from INR 48 per USD to around INR 39 per USD. (See the Yahoo Chart above- For current value go to Yahoo finance

The question to ask is what is the cut-off when the Indian IT offshoring story becomes less lucrative or in fact reduces to normal business (5% profit margins)?

Couple the reducing $ with increasing salaries of Indian IT companies - we need to get this number (the Cut-off INR-USD Rate) right. I call it the COOT (Currency Offshore-Outsourcing Threshold). In my opinion, COOT for 2008 is 30 (1 USD = 30 INR)

Analytic Hierarchy Process - The Strategic Decision Making

The Strategic Decision Making book - that came to print in Jan 2004, seems to be the last book with Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) in its title, hence it is showing up in various lists - also may be the focus on strategic decision making is also another interesting aspect that must be making it being referred to in various tutorials and seminars.

Wikipedia on Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) gives the book as first reference

Tekenomo, Kardi's latest tutorial on AHP, {Teknomo, Kardi. (2006) Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) Tutorial) refers to the book in the resources section

Harvard Business School Working Knowledge referred to it as AHP - Not just any ROI!

Prof Bruce Golden - inluded the whole content page of the book in his presentation on recent developments in AHP

Informs Journal Interfaces - described it thus

This book is one in the valuable Decision Engineering series that focuses on the foundations and applications of tools and techniques related to decision engineering and identifies their roles in making decisions. We recommend this book for graduate-level students as well as all decision makers, especially in business and in government. Clearly, as demonstrated by the examples in the book, AHP can be applied to most subjects." (John Wang and Qiyang Chen, Interfaces, Vol. 35 (3), 2005)

Altshuller Institute is selling it as part of Innovation books at its site

OK - you may say what is the point -

Well no point, only SDM-Applying the AHP completes 4 years in Jan 2008 and I just plain happy about it!
May be its time to look at the next book - which always is in the pipeline ...

I still have more - Poems

Happiness

All the time, every moment,
The desire to be happy
Caused me
The maximum sorrow

Questions

After taking my wings,
They ask why I don’t fly.
After cutting my tongue,
They ask why I don’t speak.
After taking my hands,
They ask me where my sword is.

Flowers

Stamp the flowers
Under your feet
Still they will give
You fragrance

Tears and words

These are actually my tears –
But why are they in your eyes
Words are also mine
But why are they in your voice

Words

Your words came as if
Thirsty for months burning earth
Had few drops of water-
And the thirst increased –
When will I have showers of rain?

Hunger

The morning Sun like a baked circular chapatti
Sky like a blue pan
Everyday ask me
What is hunger?

Fear

When everyone was afraid of light
I became the burning candle

History

It is amazing –
When I suddenly find words written by me –
Lying here and there –
I realize that
I have a History

Distance
I have become a lie
Far off from the truth –
To tell the truth
I was never near the truth

Dew

Dewdrop saw in all the four directions,
And just detached
Itself from the rose –
As if, it never belonged
To the rose

The Night

These are the dark pages of the ending night,
I think and sow the seeds of light,
Thoughts are very deep but still incomplete,
Words are complete but absolutely powerless,
I still have pain but it’s dormant,
Shouts are still in my throat only,
My eyes still watch without seeing,
Emotions speak rarely but,
My fists have opened before I could stiffen them,
Moon is being seen but that’s it
My pen is writing but just writing
All meaning have gone out
These are the dark pages of the ending night.

Pace

Do not say that
Winds are blowing fast
Tell that
We are slow
Who cannot keep pace with them!

Sunlight

I have learnt a lot many things from sunlight –
I do not know why I could not learn
The art of entering in dark rooms
And coming out silently

Open Book

I am lying like an open book
Clear, in front of you
But you all
Go past me,
Just fluttering the pages

Cycle

We have completed a Cycle –
Starting as an animal
We have ended as animal

Revolution

I wrote revolution on all the walls that came in my way
I waited for Revolutions to happen –
And now my hands tremble writing Revolution
Lest I am sowing new seeds
Of killings and blood

Perfection

I do not seek perfection
As I want to live
I want to hear a song
Sung by a soar throat
Paintings without any color
I love sculptures with broken limbs –
For all these tell me
That people still are
Human beings

Journey

When destinations were same
And the paths were same
Then why did we
Shifted our groups

Love

When the ray of Sun
Peeping like a streak of yellow mustard
Sprouted on the white cotton field
Laid on the blue sky
Touched
The dewdrop about to drip
From the rose petal,
I came to know
What is love?

Confront

Every time it is impossible to run away
So get up
Confront the continuous itch to run away
From everything every time

Emotions and Creation

Emotions do not shout when they are smashed
They just spread randomly
May be in this spread
Lay the seeds of creation

Journey

I have put behind walls all my paths
I will not seek any destinations
And I will just keep on walking
In circles –
Keep on moving
Without any search
Without any destination –
Going away with every step from my previous step
Yet moving towards the step that I am leaving
I realized that’s what anyway
I am doing
In my life

Darkness

The borders of darkness
Must have been reduced somewhat,
I haven’t burnt my heart
Just in vain!

Scope

Life can never be so beautiful
That there is no scope to make it more beautiful
And
Neither can it be so sad that
There is no scope for more sadness

Feeling

What I am leaving behind
I don’t remember,
What I am going to get
I don’t have any interest,
But,
Every time I feel
I have left something behind and
Something I am going to get now

Cactus

I tried to understand
But could not,
What happens to Cactus during autumn?

Alive

Till I kept on walking on
Thorns, stones and burning sand,
I realize
That I am alive

My face

When I started
Clawing my face with my nails
I found a new face
Behind my face

Pain

Pain has its past and its future –
That is pain – past and future
Present is just joy,
Pain only writes history
Pain only creates future –
Past and future is pain

Era and Civilizations

When every new person,
Starts looking like an old one –
Then Civilizations finish and
Eras end

Desire

I spent my whole life in the desire for a faint smile
The laughter has unnecessarily
Created problems always

*****

Some More Poems - I still call them Poems

New Creation

My creation is new,
But Ideas are same old, already thrashed by many,
Nothing new
Just play of words

Liars and Judges

You all are a lie,
But who am I
To Judge
What is real and what is lie?

Broken pieces of My Life

Every Broken piece of my life
I have kept with me
So that
If someone sometime needs,
I can give –
At least one piece of my life

Life

Every day
Life is breaking down piece by piece
And all of us extending our hands
In thin air
Search with hope for one piece of life
Everyday

Time

I never thought that
There would come a time
When my own thoughts
Will set in me deep layers of fear

Sorrow

O’ dear Sorrow
You are so alone
You search someone always –
Everyone wants to leave you
Run away from you,
Yet you are so shameless –
Don’t you have any self-esteem?
Please stop
Just feel the joy of loneliness
Wordless complete joy of loneliness,
But how will you feel this joy,
You are sorrow, and you always search for someone in vain
O’ Sorrow!

GOD

Nowadays you look like a common man
What’s the matter - Dear GOD -
You look so helpless?

Recognition

Why do I always recognize
Real faces
Behind
Multiple layers of masks on your faces

Snakes

We try umpteen ways
To save our self from snakes
But these days’ men can bite you
With more venom

Victory

Knowing that you have won,
You still accept defeat
Then only you achieved victory really

Thinking

Think
Why we don’t think
And think why we think
Think what we think
And why we don’t think
About what we think
Think

Leaf and Greenery

The old yellow leaf
Flying in air
Stuck to the green branch
Searching once again its greenery

I call them Poems -

Old poems - just posting - sort of memories of the past - but they may be the windows to future - I dunno!!!!

Words
Running behind words
I got just
Nothing

I have to walk in burning Sun

Rows of roses engulfed
In the morning dew have invited,
The bathing green leaves
In the evening turmeric are calling,
Moonlight fluttering at the Night’s door
Winked at me as well,
Despite the arrival of sudden wetness
In the half slept eyes,
I have to walk in burning Sun only -

My Tears

When the blood oozing from my cut finger
My tongue found full of salt
Then I realized why my tears
Do not reach my eyes nowadays

Loneliness

Why all of us are alone?
When all of us are together –
Or is it that you all are just the shadow of togetherness
Each one of you -

Laughter and Tears

Momentary joy – My laughter
Surprisingly -
Permanent persistent fulfilling happiness-
My Tears

Generalists Vs Specialists

These days people claim lot of interesting stuff, MATHEMATICALLY

Look at the article at ScienceDaily - an interesting result - Generalists are needed and they can thrive in a world conditioned to work as a group of specialists. In fact, the article quotes the scientist as follows

For Waite, the findings reinforce his broader world view. “We should value each other much more. We should value people who have a diversity of skills and interests. They might not have really recognizable specific skills but they might be good at doing lots of things,” he said.

I am really not very clear about whether this is something counter intuitive really. In fact I have seen the multi-taskers, people with multiple skills (not depth in all of these) actually become the boss - it is anyway I believe - the generalist in all businesses is really the great influencer and connector and the lynchpin of a business - if the generalist is not there the system will break up!

May be I am missing the excitement of the finding in the research above! I will not go to the extent that some of these models prove the obvious mathematically, yet thats closer to my feeling anyway!

200th Post - (100 posts in 3.5 months)

Last year October (22 Oct, 2007) Innovation Crafting completed 2 years - and the 100th post to the blog

Then I promised that next 100 posts will take half the time (12 months).... Today I am completing the 200th post to Innovation Crafting... It is unbelievable (it took 3.5 months to complete next 100 posts) -

Am I hooked on to this - ! I promised myself on an average of 1 post a day (as per LEAN THINKING) - I am trying to keep that pace - though it is not easy... yet I think if one focus on doing it - it is feasible ... I proved to myself ! I am doing it...

Why am I doing this? I think, it is a sort of a feeling of achievement at the end of the day... obviously everyday I cant write something --- yet it happens on an average - one per day...

Further there is encouragement from my friends - whose lead and direction I follow - James Todhundter's Blog experiments and changes I just copied as is and he gave me feedback that he liked the new look Innovation Crafting -- (Thanks James, you know it is changes are stolen from your blog - the very interesting http://www.mybloglog.com and who is reading my blog - i just picked from your blog)

Next in line - from whose blogs I am planning to steal the goodies are Prakash, Karthik and Shambu

Watch Out Guys!

TRIZ INDIA CONFERENCE - PRAKASH's PROPOSAL

Prakash is a true blue TRIZNik...

After starting the TRIZ INDIA FORUM and planning in ORGANIZING India's first Innovation Unconference or BarCamp He is onto the Next - which is India's first TRIZ Conference.

I think this will be a great event.. Bringing the India TRIZ Community together and exchanging notes and thoughts in developing TRIZ and Innovation in India will be fantastic ...

and more over it is long overdue!!!

Diversity = Productivity

Now there comes a mathematical model - to prove that diversity of people in an organization improves productivity - as if a proof was needed. The professor says - if you create a team of diverse minds - who think differently, whose backgrounds are different, whose experience sets are different, whose intellectual capabilities are different, you will produce more than a group of highly smart but similar minds.

I have seen it in many groups - how diversity increases value or output. However, it is difficult proposition to explain to enterprises, especially software services companies, who has been built upon the repeatable process designs a la six sigma or CMMI processes. After so much of process getting inside the organization, I call them process junkies - it is further amazing that the services organization want people to continue to follow standardized processes yet display innovation capability. However, they will not be allowed to deviate from process - experimentation mindset is typically discouraged ...

Also building an organization with diversity - with people who think differently - is also an important leadership trait - if all of us in the team think alike, it may happen that we become clone of each other - yet the organizers of teams should make it a point to bring in as much diversity as possible... as Diversty breeds creativity which leads to productivity...

Time to start the new field of Innovation Science

I really think, it makes great sense to explore the world of Innovation - we need to build this field of explaining Innovation. Taking a leaf from Sciences of the Artificial by Herbert Simon, I propose that we start the field of INNOVATION SCIENCE

The field will explore and explain the structure of Innovation, explain the processes of Innovation and develop repeatable hypothesis regarding the efficacy of Innovation.

I invite all to start this field -

This is something that Altshuller tried to explain - when he started the quest for a Theory of Inventive Problem Solving or TRIZ (if we go for Russian acronym) - I believe we need to really take this work forward, combine with the Sciences of the artificial with the practicality and natural evolution of Lean thinking especially Lean Product Development - to create the new science of Innovation.

These three thinking dimensions and methododlogies - TRIZ, Lean and System Thinking is the part of a new framework that I have developed I call it the LEAN INVENTIVE SYSTEM THINKING (LIST) which I am offering as a one day workshop at TRIZCON 2008 - We can meet and discuss it further at the TRIZCON 2008 as well!

Science Blogs - Basic Science List

The Scienceblogs - Basic Concepts in Science List is a great source for exploring what is happening in the science - it also builds on its own - sort of wikipedia types...

nevertheless if one reads the list and the posts linked one can get a fantastic view of the Science expansion...It has topics raging from evolution to information science

I believe it will be a good source to keep in your favorites!!

The Recursive Universe

After posting my 20 years old Science Fiction story and renaming it "Hypothesis of Recursive Universe", I googled "Recursive Universe" - lo and behold -there are more than 4000 hits!!!!

There is William Poundstone's book (I read his Game Theory book - which is Neumann's life really!) The Recursive Universe: Cosmic Complexity and the Limits of Scientific Knowledge

To top it all, Physics Forum people are discussing RECURSIVE UNIVERSE!

It is exciting to go back to 20 years old thought! and revisit one's mind's history! I will come back on this - but reminds me of always try to capture the thought in some way !

A Science Fiction Story - I wrote in 1988

Following is a Science Fiction story I wrote exactly 20 years back. It is interesting to read again - I read few days back - Still looks interesting to me - May be who knows it is the reality as well -! In Hindsight I would like to title it the Hypothesis of Recursive Universe!

It is called KAMADE HYPOTHESIS

KAMADE HYPOTHESIS

Following is a report published in the newspapers in the year 2061 A.D., March 31st.

Kamade Hypothesis: 50 Years

It was a strange accident that occurred in the year 2011 A.D. which made us realize that we may not be alone in this Universe. In fact, what we consider to be the universe may actually be a tiny electron for some intelligence bigger than we can even visualize. What really happened is that a Scientist died in year 2011 A.D. in his Lab and about 5 hours later he came alive. On regaining consciousness he told a shockingly unbelievable story that is recounted below.

Prof. Shamta Kamade, expert particle physicist, senior scientist, TIFR, Bombay, India was conducting experiments using particle accelerator in the TIFR Lab. Suddenly he fell on the floor and lost consciousness. Unfortunately no one was there at the time to help him. After about four hours or so his assistant came in the lab. He called for medical assistance. The resident doctor at the campus came and declared Prof. Shamta Kamade dead. The cause of death could not be ascertained and it was assumed that he died of his third heart attack. Unlike the previous two attacks this time it was too much for his frail, sixty year old body.
The news of his death spread like fire. He was one of those rare scientists who were quite popular amongst all due to his variety of interests. About a dozen scientists and other staff gathered in the lab. There weren’t many people in the campus as it was a holiday.

As the body was taken out - to everyone’s surprise, Prof, Kamade came alive. He was in high spirits and he immediately asked the date and time. On being told the time he remarked, “ So I was gone for five hours only”, and then he told a very curious tale.

He said that he was transported to a tiny electron that looked to him as the earth looks to us. Further, to everyone’s horror, he said he was transformed to a life form existing on the electron in the particle accelerator. He compared the electron as a planet revolving around the atomic nucleus.

He said there were countries there of people, animals, plants – much smaller than we can imagine. It was not possible to explain everything but he was telling only what looked possibly close to our visualizing capabilities. For example, he continued, as such no specific human form was there, but a life form was there that was in control of the planet as he called it. He said although he was there only there for 5 earth hours he lived close to twenty-five lives on the electron. The time there passed very fast. He lived, died and was reborn with many ages there. He said, the concept of rebirth is a proved now. Also time is not an absolute parameter or meaning. He remarked that in a minute of our lives many civilizations are being created, eliminated and prospering in the tiny particles.

The electron on which he lived he called Electropica. He said he was born there in a family and learned everything there – grew, worked and then died. Then he was reborn to a new age. In his first life, he was born in the primitive age of Electropica – an age in which life forms were still evolving. Then he was reborn in more advanced age. With each rebirth he was born as life form of higher and higher intelligence. He termed life as a function of transformation from one life form to another or to same life form. He said, five times out of his twenty-five births at Electropica he was born into same life form. In the first two births, his life form was used as slaves by a higher life form but in the next three births his life form was the master of the planet. Hence he concluded that control of Electropica was changing from one life form to another with each age. There was no monopoly of any life form unlike earth.

Prof Kamade said that he covered millions of electron years (as he called one electron year to be equal to the time taken by the electron to cover one period around the nucleus). In the end the electron was accelerated and broke off from the nucleus. Whole Electropica was annihilated. On being asked whether there were days and night on Electropica, he answered that there was a constant glow on the planet, which he was not able to attribute to anything.

Prof Shamta Kamade died after an hour of his coming alive. But this time he had a real heart attack. There were about a dozen persons who heard and saw what happened there that day. All of them swear by what has been written here. His young assistant who was 20 years then is now crossing 80 years – having spent whole is life searching for Electropica.

Prof Kamade is dead now, but he has left behind a remarkable hypothesis. There are many questions. Many people considered the story as a well-planned hoax. An international committee of scientists questioned individually and collectively all the eleven persons present that fateful day. The committee felt that all of them were telling the truth. But it is quite possible that Prof, Kamade had hallucinations, though the doctor who examined him negated this theory forcefully and in fact said that was a serious attack of his professional competency.
Fifty years later world is still waiting for the scientists to prove of disprove what Prof. Kamade started. This is popularly called Kamde’s Hypothesis or Kamade’s hallucinations. The question still lingers in many minds whether the earth is just a small electron for some huge intelligence, which is not able to reach us because it can’t see us, i.e., there is uncertainty involved. Just like we can only find either position or velocity of an electron at a particular instant. Meaning that simultaneous determination of position and velocity of an electron is impossible. But the Kamade’s Hypothesis says that there are civilizations on that electron. Is it that our galaxy is nothing but a tiny piece of matter for some huge civilization? Are there cycles of life, i.e., if we are electrons for some life forms and that life form is nothing but electrons for some higher life form and so on? If that is so, where is the end of this cycle or where does the cycle ends? The questions are increasing but answers are difficult to get.

If Electropica was true then the question arises that Kamade’s transformation from earth to Electropica and then back to earth was some fluke of nature or a result of some asymmetry in nature or was is it a consequence of some miscalculation on the part of …. Whom?

The New Look

I have been playing with the look and feel of Innovation Crafting.

I have added some new functionality from mybloglog.com
